Abstract

The administration of a suitable antibiotics is one of the most important therapy in oral infections. But the choice of efficient antibiotics was tangled by the emergence of multiful drug resistance and characteristics of mixed infection in oral
cavity.
In this study, thirty specimens of oral & maxillofacial infection were selected to screen the susceptibility of fifteen antibiotics and try to evaluated the resistanc tendency in accordance with plasmid DNA which may code for antibiotic
resistance.
The
susceptibility was determined by the disc agar diffusion method. All of the speciment were resistant to penicillin, oxacillin, lincmycin, clindamycin and osteomyelitis. Fifteen, twelve and eleven of thiry patients showed susceptibility to
ceftriaxone,
chloramphenicol an amikacin, repectively.
Nine samples were found to contain plasmid DNA and showed 1 fragment of 15 mega dalton.
